By adding a company logo to garments used for staff uniform it will help the company to off-set the complete uniform cost against tax. So, not only can the VAT be recouped but the garment cost as well. Not all companies are aware of this fact! Advice is freely given if required.
Here are some general guidelines, information and advice that will help you to help us when providing or sending in artwork that we can work with. Different methods of garment decoration can require different types of artwork.
Embroidery
Stitched designs onto fabric garments and baseball caps. Logos to be supplied to us in simple, low resolution JPEG, Tiff or Bitmap format. Cost to set up is based on the stitch count. The larger the design the greater the set-up cost. Once an order is confirmed please also provide a colour copy of logo on headed paper, etc. so that we can match up the thread colours. We provide a free of charge embroidery sample on fabric for approval by you before we embroider any garments.
Screen Printing
Used on fabric items as well as pens, mugs and masses of other promotional items. Artwork to be generated in Adobe Illustrator, Photo Shop, Free hand or similar and saved as a .eps file format. All outlines saved as paths. Pantone shades will be required for each colour printed. P485 red, for example, is a popular shade of red. Pantone shades are important to replicate your corporate identity. Your stationery printer may have your artwork and pantone shade information. Origination cost varies depending on the garment or item to be printed. Cost is generally between £10 and £25 per colour.
Digital Printing
Generally used to produce photographs and other images on to fabric and other promotional products. Artwork to be supplied as for screen-printing.
Heat Applied Transfers
A thin vinyl transfer, heat applied under pressure for a set length of time to fuse/bond the transfer to fabric items. Transfers stretch slightly but less than the garment fabric. This method is ideal for small production runs. No origination cost to set up but high quality artwork is required as for screen-printing. Depending on the design, number of colours and quantity required screen-printing might be a better option. We will advise you once we have all information.
Woven Labels
These labels are still used for adding a company logo to some types of garments-usually corporate wear like business jackets, trouser suits, blouses, etc. This type of garment decoration is less ‘in your face’ and used mainly by the banks, building societies and insurance sectors, etc. for customer-facing staff.
Pictures are included by each section above to show the different methods which can be used to add logos or company names to garments.
